Hi all,
thank you for all answers and comments. I must admit that the form of
so complex list was also used to maybe learn someone about some special
ANT features... ;-)
I'll try to summarize the results.
> 1. Start, Finish and Punch devices
It's outdated and will be removed.
> 2. Identifying competitors by chips
The startnumbers can be used for it. Or chipnumbers. Will be removed.
> 3. Writing results to Toe chips
Was/will/could be used. Will be kept.
> 4. Publishing results in the forest
Was/will/could be used. Will be kept.
> 5. Assigning chips
It might be useful together with 4) but no special handling of
startlist reload is needed. Newly downloaded startlist removes
all assignments, only the new data will be used.
> 6. E-card mode
Was/will/could be used. Will be kept.
> 7. E-card mode menu locking
I am happy to hear that it was actually used. Will be kept.
> 8. ANT Master Server
Was/will/could be used. Will be kept.
> 9. Multistages event
It has not been used for a long time and will be removed.
> 10. Terminology
I spent a lot of time thinking about this while making the analysis
for TOP. The event is definitely incorrect and I prefer Race instead
of Competition. Of course, this will cause a need of updating the
localization files for your languages... :-) Not in the Czech case
because in Czech I use the same word for both! ;-)
Regarding classes, we cannot be inspired by the Rules since they only
know O and P. I will probably keep the current term.
And now I have two more topics to discusss:
11. Multiple stations
The app is prepared for the situation where one mobile is used for
more stations. A marshal selects e.g. stations 1 and 2 and each
competitor visits station 1 first and then station 2 with the
same marshal (or at least the same mobile and another marshal :-).
Do you think this is useful? It significantly complicates the logic
of whether to offer a competitor's name in the filter, or whether he
or she has already been "served" completely.
12. Operating system
How problematic do you find that the app is only offered for Android?
Don't tell me it would be better to have it also for iOS, I know that.
The question is whether the iOS version would DRAMATICALLY increase
availability. Have you ever encountered a significant problem with
collecting enough android devices? You can probably imagine that this
would mean creating the app from scratch.
